Windows make a room. Seriously. You hear designers talk about natural light all the time. Well, the only way natural light gets in is through windows. Therefore, windows make a room. So when my friend, Angela, called me and said that her bedroom was finished except for her window treatments, I knew that they had to be a knockout. That last finishing touch that would literally make the room. The curtain design had to be the icing on the cake.
Angela’s home is decorated in a cool palette, all grey and blue. It is very beautiful and soothing. And in her master bedroom, she carried out that theme. Here’s the thing, as stunning as her home is, it is still very comfortable. Beautiful without being fussy. So when the time came to design her curtains, I decided upon linen. But not just any linen. Shimmery silver linen. Shimmery silver linen with an even more shimmery silver band at the bottom. Glamorous silver. Thank goodness for my ladies over at New South Home Couture, for making my idea come to life. (Even though they thought I was a little crazy at first.)
The shimmer in the linen is very subtle, but you can see it. And the glamorous silver fabric on the bottom has a slight sheen but is darker in color. The panels seem to sparkle when the light hits them. But given that they are linen, they are not too flashy or overpowering. They are subtle and beautiful, just like the rest of Angela’s home.
