Hello all! I hope that you have been able to stay dry this weekend. I escaped the horrible downpours that plagued the South to head to Boston for the very first Wayfair Heart Home conference. And I have to say, it was great for so many reasons! I am so excited tons share with you the weekend.
I arrived in Boston on Thursday morning at the beautiful Marriott Copley Place, which is connected to the Wayfair corporate offices. After checking in, kicking off my shoes, doing a little work and ordering a bowl of New England Clam Chowder, I heard from my friends Lisa from Shine Your Light and Kris from Driven By Decor. We had never met in person so that was a highlight for me! And off we went for an evening of fun. I ended up seeing Charlotte from Ciburbanity, Jaime from That’s My Letter and meeting some new friends as well!
The next morning started in all off with a great keynote speaker, Maxwell Ryan, the founder of Apartment Therapy.
He spoke about home being a reflection of who you are. And that it will always evolve and should speak to your soul. He called home decor “the new food”, meaning that decor blogs and decorating magazines and shows have taught us so much in the recent past, just like food shows and blogs had done previous to that. Maxwell was also kind enough to give each of us a signed copy of his new book, Complete and Happy Home.
Sherwin -Williams was on hand with delicious and colorful macaroons, promoting their ColorSnap app and also to share information about their fantastic, wipeable flat paint. All mother’s out there can rejoice!!!
Wayfair is the parent company for Joss and Main, Birch Lane, All Modern and Dwell Studio. So we had some gorgeous lounge spaces set up.
But one of my favorite things about the conference was the White Couch Challenge, put on by Joss and Main. They provided a white couch, a glass coffee table and loads of accessories to style it any way you choose. It was really fun to do and also to see what others came up with. Here is mine….
And with Wayfair having that much power in the home decor space, they were able to bring a panel of esteemed magazine editors to the conference to speak to us. It was invaluable to me to meet the editors of some of my favorite shelter and lifestyle magazines.
On day 2 of the conference we were invited to the Wayfair corporate offices for some break out sessions. They were highly informative, well thought out and well, it was just fun to be at the Wayfair corporate offices. What more can I say?
I had a fantastic time in Boston with the Heart Home conference. I am looking forward to seeing how they do it in the future. I was the first year, and I can only imagine that it will get bigger and better each time!
