Can you believe that summer is half over?! I love the 4th of July, but it always reminds me that summer is halfway over. Sigh. I will enjoy every minute that is left of this season! Here’s how you can savor the summer with these 6 home tips.
For me, it kind of guilts me into reading more. Why shouldn’t I read more? It’s summer! Beach reads, modeling good behavior for your kids, relaxing outside…. Reading is the perfect choice! Plus, my friends come over and will see the pile. Then I can recommend (or not) whichever book they are interested in. (If you have not read Slightly South of Simple by Kristy Woodson Harvey you need to buy it here!)
After returning home from Nashville this week and lamenting about how all of the Hydrangeas in Tennessee were in bloom but not here, I arrived to see all of our crepe myrtles and roses in bloom! Yay! So I snipped away. Then I needed some greenery to fill in the flowers and as I was looking in my yard I also found some other flowers (I have no idea what they are) and I snipped those. Fantastic! Just by looking in my yard I found some gorgeous blooms.
That’s all you need, right? A little lemon in almost anything brightens it up and makes me think of summer. Some fresh oranges add color and fragrance, lemons add brightness and limes add tartness.
All summer long I leave fresh cherries or peaches or grapes out on the counter. They disappear in no time. It’s fantastic because we all snack healthier and the freshness of the season comes right in to the house!
Some of the best vacations we have ever taken have been to the beach. And they usually happen in summer. We always pick up some shells or a decorative item to remember the trip. They are meant to be on display and remind us of that trip and the summer fun!
You start off with memorial day. You end with labor day. And the 4th of July is smack in the middle of it all. Why not keep the red white and blue theme going all summer long?!
I hope you are ready to savor the summer with these 6 home tips too! My goal is to soak up every last, relaxing minute of this season. Enjoy July 4th and Happy Birthday America!
