Has a meal ever sounded more Southern? Well, I guess I could have said “with fried okra” but I didn’t. This is an elegant twist on good ‘ole Southern Q. The sauce is delicious. Every member of my family made it into the clean plate club, and that’s saying something. Plus, it is super easy to make.
First of all, it is just a simple roasted pork loin sprinkled with brown sugar and some peach preserves. Cook it at 350 degrees until the center reads 165 on an instant read thermometer. Mine took about 35 minutes. I let it rest for another 10.
And while the pork is cooking away in the oven, you can make the peach BBQ sauce. Here is what you need:
1 medium sweet onion, diced small
1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
1 garlic clove, minced
1 1/2 C. ketchup
1/2 C. peach preserves
1 Tbsp. dried oregano
2 large peaches, peeled and diced
2 Tbsp. apple cider vinegar
Heat a small pot over medium heat and add the vegetable oil. Sauté the onion until slightly translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and stir for a minute more. Then mix in the ketchup, peach preserves and dried oregano. Bring it up to a slight bubble. Add the peaches and vinegar and allow to boil for about 10 minutes. Done!
I’ll bet this sauce would be great on wings or ribs or just about anything. It hits all the sweet and savory notes in one bite. Enjoy!
