Oh My Gosh! I can’t believe that we should be able to move in to the new house in 2 weeks! The inside will be complete. The exterior will take a while longer. We are headed into the home stretch! This is where the decorating part really takes place. The nail biting part for us creative types. We get to see whether or not the decisions we made were good ones. Stressing out over your choices…. that’s the reality of renovation heading into the end!
Finding the perfect paint color for the inside has been a challenge for me. I’m not a fan of grey (too gloomy) but true beige is so last decade, so I’ve been trying to find the perfect greige. It needs to be subtle and blend well with my creamy colored furniture and my black counter tops. I think I have sampled 5 different colors. I have finally settled on Edgecomb Grey by Benjamin Moore. The painters asked that I stick with Sherwin Williams, but I had to head to the “other side” for this one. They are scheduled to paint next week. Hopefully I made the right choice!
The floors are another choice that I am biting my nails about. They are being done as I write this. I went with a dark stain, much darker than I am used to. I am sure the yellow fur from my dog Murphy, will look lovely on it. 🙂 Seriously, it will be a nice contrast for my white cabinets.
Light fixtures and plumbing fixtures are going in next week. I am so excited about that! I feel like both of those items are the jewelry of the house. They sparkle and shine and add just the right touch. I have picked the most amazing fixtures from Currey and Company for the kitchen, breakfast area and great room.
The anticipation is killing me! I so desperately want to see how everything looks, but I’m also scared to death that it will be horrible. And that’s an expensive mistake. But I am already envisioning how I’m going to set up each room and what accessories will go where. It’s so exciting I want to jump up and down!
