….. and you have that “oh s#$*!” moment. It’s that moment when things are really taking shape. I mean they really look great! And you are all excited and start placing furniture in your head. Then you realize all the little things you have forgotten.
And why are they so important? They are just little things, right? Well, it’s the little things that make it all come together. And fall apart.
For example, we were short a few cabinet knobs. And I ordered them, but I didn’t pay attention to when they were due to come in. A couple of weeks later I realized that I still didn’t know where they were. Luckily they had not been thrown out by workers. They were neatly tucked away in the garage where I wouldn’t have thought of looking if I wasn’t in a panic!
Or the fact that the kitchen backsplash is 1 tile short. 1 tile!!!!
Then there are the closets. I have nothing to put in them. I don’t mean clothing. I mean shelving. I didn’t even think about it, nor did I budget for it.
The previous owners left behind a pool table for us. I have to move that out in order to have the floors refinished. Eeeek!
It’s just those little things that make you want to pull your hair out! But it means that we are getting close. So I take a deep breath, give thanks for this amazing home remodel, and figure it all out.
