Remember when I went to High Point? One of the trends I noticed was decorating with books…. painted books, fabric covered books, paper covered books. Lots and lots of books! I thought it was a great idea. So I decided to make my own. I did some paper covered books. Now, I finally painted some books for myself.
I bought some old books from Goodwill and other thrift stores. They need to be hardcover. And it doesn’t really matter if there is a pattern or picture on the book. The paint will cover it. I used Van Gogh fossil paint in Laundered Money. It was the perfect match for my powder room (which is almost done!!!).
It took two coats of paint and then a seal. I used the Van Gogh top coat which keeps the paint in a matte finish. I think it took 10 minutes, not counting dry time, and $5 including the little bit of paint used.
These books are a great compliment to the powder room. My powder room is almost complete. I’m just finishing up the accessories. Here is a sneak peek:
