Week 6 of the One Room Challenge is finally here! I have been so blessed to be among such creative talent in this linking event. A big THANK YOU to Linda@CallingItHome for hosting such an amazing challenge. And I also need to give a big thanks to my family for living with chaos, my talking to myself and my meltdowns during this creative process. Especially my son who had to deal with my crazy the other night while I was photographing the space. (He will make such a great husband some day!)
Without further adieu…….
When I set out on this adventure on week 1, I had very limited ideas on what I wanted to do with my guest room. I just wanted some new bedding, new paint and some board and batten walls. No biggie. I thought it would be a snap! Not so much. That board and batten took forever to do. But I love the way it turned out.
Then came the chair. I thought I had done great on that one! Week 2 had me sailing along until I realized that I had put the fabric on wrong! That sent me searching for new fabric and redoing the cushion cover. And then in week 3 I had started to paint. I thought I was sailing along again so I decided to discuss adding artwork to the room.
Thank goodness for Minted otherwise there wouldn’t be any art in the room! I didn’t have the chance to frame all of the pictures I had wanted. I bit off a little more than I should have. Especially since I discussed hating the paint color in week 4! After repainting the room and beginning the trim, I realized there would be limited time to get it all done. So I focused on the board and batten and discovered that it was quite a task. You will see that the headboard I discussed didn’t make the cut either.
The nightstands (Rast) from IKEA came out great with the orange paint and are the perfect pop of color the room needs. You saw how I did those in week 5.
Now the room is put together. The One Room Challenge has been a success. And I need a nap.
