Wow! Week 3, huh? I need a nap. But I am so excited about the progress! I am blown away at how much this One Room Challenge has motivated me. It’s awesome! Now I want to make over my whole house! But I guess I better just finish up this challenge first.
If you need to catch up on my One Room Challenge, you can see week 1 and week 2 here. If you have no idea what I am talking about, check out the One Room Challenge at Calling it Home.
I decided to tackle my dining room. It is one of the first rooms you see when you enter my house and it is quite literally a dumping ground. If you don’t believe me, here’s a picture. I guess now I better say WAS a dumping ground.
I hadn’t done a thing to it since we moved in except purchase a chandelier. And I only did that because there wasn’t one in there. The chair slipcovers are about 8 years old, the table is at least 10 (but I love it!) and the rug was on clearance somewhere a long time ago. It all worked brilliantly in our old house, but its just OK here.
So I decided on a color scheme…
And I cleared out the clutter…..
This week I painted. And I patched. And I painted. And I trimmed it out. And I still have more to paint. But It looks so good! I’m giddy! My chandelier really pops against the darker walls.
I also purchased new slip covers for the dining chairs from World Market. (yes, I will iron it!)
Just with the paint, I have the darker, cozy room I wanted. But with that gorgeous chandelier and the linen slipcovers, it won’t feel like a cave. I mean, look at how this looks at night…
Mmmmm, hmmmm! I am so motivated to finish this paint. And then I will get to work on the curtains. Yippee!
