It is week 3 of the One Room Challenge and what can I say? Well, the room is currently being painted. The weather and a certain little girl’s birthday kept me from doing the side tables like I planned. (I have to spray outside and it’s been raining for 3 days straight.) However, progress is being made, slowly but surely.
I am painting the top portion of the walls a taupe color and preparing to do the board and batten on the lower part. When I see board and batten on a wall, I prefer the 2/3 to 1/3 rule: 2/3 paneling to 1/3 paint. It just really adds depth and you can see the woodwork even when there is furniture in the room. I get to use my new toy: a RYOBI brad nailer! I got it for my birthday! I can’t wait!
The color I chose for the top part of the walls is Tavern Taupe by Sherwin Williams.
Accessories were purchased! Some great gold accents and some green to make it pop! Love it! Thank you, Target!
I also scooped up some beautiful original art from Minted. Have you ever seen what they have? It is amazing! It’s affordable art from artists all over the country. Each item is limited to a certain quantity so you know you are getting original art.
I have begun framing pictures from this book. It is available from Amazon and has incredibly vibrant botanical reproductions.
No fabric has been chosen for the headboard. I am most concerned about finishing these walls. Then I will go down to my favorite fabric store, Mary Jo’s, and find some. I have to kick it into high gear. This girl has a lot on her plate!
