Do you have an Advent calendar? We do. Although my children don’t understand the true meaning of Advent. They think the calendar means that they get candy every day until Christmas, when they get BIG presents. Ugh! So this year I went about it a little differently. Yes, there were some grumbles yesterday, but this morning my daughter hopped out of bed, looked inside the calendar and knew what she had to do today. #gamechanger
I have been thinking a lot lately about the law of attraction and positive thinking. Sounds corny, I know, but I have seen it in action. And I try to live it every day. But I don’t think my kids really live it. They have a pretty charmed life where they just get to be kids and have fun. They get frustrated when little things go wrong. They don’t realize that people in this world have real problems. Nor do they always realize that doing good for others leads to goodness in return. I thought if I could take this month and program them to think and do positive things, we’d be off to an amazing start in 2017!
An idea was born! I created 25 days of positive sayings or deeds for the kids to do. I printed all of them on business cards and tucked them into each day. Sorry Target One Spot, you didn’t see me this year! No additional candy is needed. No keeping up with junky little toys.
Do you like this idea? Lucky for you I decided to share my little pocket positives with you. You can download them here. I truly believe in counting your blessings and thinking positively. Some days it is really difficult! We all have bad days where we think nothing will ever go our way. But for the most part, life is on our side. This holiday season I wanted my kids to begin to understand that. It helps me too! When I am overwhelmed this holiday season, I can read the Advent calendar and reassure myself with the words in it.
This is not your typical Advent calendar, but I hope it will change our lives in a wonderfully positive way!
