Summer is drawing to a close. Days at the beach are done, lounging by the pool for hours is over. While we all feel a little sad about that, your skin is very happy to be out of the sun and the water. It probably needs a little TLC by this point. I know that mine does. And here are my post-summer skin repair products I plan to use to get it glowing again.
I have had an uphill battle with my skin. After my daughter was born and my hormones went nuts, I was plagued with adult cystic acne for years. That was until I met the right dermatologist who figured out the multiple issues I was having that contributed to the problem, and fixed them all! Now I am able to use over the counter products, based on the information she gave me about ingredients and my skin type. Oh, and the fact that my hormones are normal again.
Needless to say, I am very careful with everything that I put on my skin so that I don’t go back to that place…. the place where everything irritated my face and caused breakouts. So I read ingredients, look for oil free and all natural stuff where I can, and protect with hats, sunblock and shade. And now that the summer is over and my skin is out of the water and sun, I can restore it to it’s natural state, free of sweat and constant sunblock applications. (Although, I do recommend a daily moisturizer with SPF in it!) I was not compensated in any way for this post. I use all of these products and just wanted to share them with you because I love them! And I also share some affiliate links for your shopping convenience.
Here are the steps you need to get your skin back to it’s AMAZING state.
I love the Total Renewal Micro-dermabrasion Exfoliator from Boots No. 7. It is awesome! I was told to be very careful with any type of exfoliator. If the scrubbing particles are too large they can leave tiny scrapes on your skin that you can’t even see and they can get infected causing cystic acne. Who wants that?! This exfoliator is very smooth, not gritty, so I know that the particles are small. After I use it, my skin is so smooth! I use it about once per week.
As for my body, I make my own exfoliator with sugar and coconut oil. You can find that recipe here.
This clay mask is pretty in pink! The Origins Original Skin Rose Clay Mask is the perfect follow-up to a good exfoliation. I smooths out the skin, fights impurities and makes your face feel good.
I am sure you have all seen the commercials for that mask that has infrared light in it and makes you look like Hannibal Lecter….. yeah, not for me. Instead I use a high frequency wand so that I can zap zits or treat my whole face to banish bacteria. It doesn’t hurt a bit and works like a charm! I do it about twice a week and it is amazing. You can see results in just a couple of days after use. It really does reduce redness and help diminish the look of wrinkles.
Your skin is probably parched. It’s no secret that most of us don’t drink enough water anyway, much less while we are at the pool or beach. So our skin needs that moisture to tighten in back up and make it beautiful. I don’t just have 1 moisturizer that I use. I have a daily and a nightly and a heavy duty. For the purposes of this post, I just shared the heavy duty. Pacifica Sea Rescue Water Gel is the perfect way to quench your parched skin. I only use it once a week and I don’t put makeup over it. I really let it soak in.
For my eyes, I use L’oreal Revitalift every night. It is the best eye cream I have used yet. Others caused me to break out at my temples or flaked my skin due to the alpha-hydroxy. This doesn’t neither and I can really see a difference around my eyes.
This stuff is for my body. CeraVe is a great moisturizer that isn’t greasy, it doesn’t have a smell so it won’t interfere with perfume and it dries quickly. I also use the daily moisturizer with SPF 30 in it as my regular, everyday stuff.
And if you are still not ready to let go of that tan, try some self tanner. St. Tropez is the best! The facial lotion doesn’t clog my pores or feel greasy. It is light and airy plus it looks very natural. For my body, I use St. Tropez bronzing mousse. It doesn’t streak and has the most realistic looking results.
Are you ready to get glowing? I have used all of my post-summer skin repair products this week and am so happy with the results. I feel refreshed and renewed again. It’s awesome. Give them a try. Your skin will thank you.
