I feel like this is the one room that will never be done in my home. We all have one. There is constantly a nagging thought to add something there or move something here. Even as I write this post, I have an idea. But I must say, it has come a long way! If you read my Great Room Dreams post from almost a year ago, you’ll know the direction I’m going in.
My great room is the first room you see when you enter my house. The foyer opens right up to it. It is the first impression of my home, my style. I think that is why it gives me so much grief. I want it to be the perfect reflection of my home. But nothing is perfect and I always change my mind!
This room has a lot of duties. It needs to function as a recreation space, entertaining space, work space and hallway. It opens directly to our patio, which is really nice for seasonal entertaining.
It is very large and has lots of natural light. The two story windows let in so much sunshine. Even on overcast days it still feels very bright. I love to curl up in my zebra chairs and read a book. Obviously, Murphy, my dog, loves the room too. I couldn’t get him to move while I photographed the room. I would love to add a fireplace where the TV currently is. We even talk about closing the room in and adding a bonus room above, making it 2 usable spaces.
As you can see, the desk has quite a presence in the room. I do the best I can, but I am not a tidy worker. I have papers and books and notes EVERYWHERE! I would like a prettier chair, but this one will do for now. And I’d like to clean up my mood/bulletin board. Add it to the list!
I have fabric in a closet just waiting to be made into pillows to decorate for Spring. I better get on that, huh? See, another idea to change the room. It is ever evolving!
