When guests came to stay at our house, I typically felt like I was putting them in the worst room of the house. Why is that? Shouldn’t our guests feel warm and cozy for their stay? Shouldn’t it be better than a hotel? The answer is yes. They should have all of the conveniences of home yet be surrounded by comfort and a bit of luxury. That is why I chose to re-do my guest bedroom for the One Room Challenge this time around. Along the way I learned how to create an inviting guest bedroom.
You can create an inviting atmosphere for your guests by adding simple and luxurious touches. I think that fresh flowers are a must. Who doesn’t love flowers? Also, a lovely bottle of water next to the bed is a nice touch.
The atmosphere in the room should be more than what they would get at home. However, it should be reflective of your personal style because, after all, it is your house! This is why I chose to punch up the color in my guest room with an accent wall, but leaving the rest white kept the room calm.
Add layers of comfort to create an inviting guest bedroom. By that I mean, extra pillows, extra blankets, leave the wi-fi password handy, have lotions and soaps at the ready, leave little spots for guests to store items, etc. Make sure your guests feel well taken care of.
A reading nook is definitely something that I think every guest room should have. Make sure to add a few of your favorite books and magazines for your guests to choose from. If you can, putting it near a window allows for true relaxation because guests can gaze out the window from time to time while they read.
Creating an inviting guest bedroom is easier than you think. Just imagine a place where you could relax and enjoy your stay, then craft a room around that feeling. Think of little touches that would make you feel well taken care of and add them in. Your guests may never want to leave!
