Here is the other half of my home tour. Just a couple other tidbits, like our tree! And our favorite place in the house, our keeping room. (You can see the makeover of that here.) I decorated our mantle on the cheap and it is just so much fun!
Our tree is an 8 ft. pre-lit tree. I go with the pre-lit fake tree because, honestly, it’s just easier. I never grew up with the tree picking being a big event. So I guess I never made it a big event in my home either.
Last year my tree was done in red and green. This year I decided to go for a change of pace and do silver and white. It just makes me think of snow! I’m dreaming of a white Christmas……
I enjoy wrapping my gifts in paper that matches the tree. I opted for some silver and white wrapping paper. Here is a tip…. wrap each person’s gifts in a different paper, then you don’t need gift tags if you don’t want!
As for our keeping room, this is where we displayed our North Pole Village by Department 56. I buy a new building each year to add to our collection. I like having a Christmas collection. My mother used to collect Carolers from Byers Choice so I guess a Christmas collection is a tradition.
The village is displayed on either side of our wrapping paper mantle! That’s right, I wrapped our mantle in wrapping paper. It makes a big impact for not a lot of $$. It looks like a big candy cane, huh? So festive!
We got new stockings from Pottery Barn to match the red and white. And a little tip….. don’t light candles near a feather wreath. I singed a few!
