Home offices are some of my favorite places to design, especially for women. I say this because I believe that men and women work differently. I think men like to be surrounded by their favorite “man stuff”. Sports paraphernalia, big TV’s, autographed items, etc. They like background noise and everything they need within arms reach. I think women like a room that is neat and clean where they can cut out the noise of all the demands placed on them and get down to business. So when I was recently contacted to do an e-design home office for a home based business owner, I was very excited. She told me that all she wanted to do was to click on links and have it all shipped to her. So I made it easy. Each and every item came from one place, One Kings Lane. Don’t you just love that site? Here is what I came up with.
I wanted to keep the office neutral. My client told me that she was partial to aqua blue. So I decided to just add a few touches of aqua, just in case she ever wanted to add another accent. Then she can just remove the blue and add something else. I was also advised that the room was only 10′ x 9′, so keep it simple and small. She asked for sophistication with a little bit of French country.
