Welcome to my holiday home tour. I am so happy that you have stopped by! Don’t you just love the holidays?! The holiday season is my favorite time of year. I love the hustle and bustle of decorating and cooking and gathering with friends and family. Putting up the lights, lighting the fireplace, drinking hot cocoa and gazing at the tree are so relaxing to me. Especially when the Nutcracker Suite is playing in the background. Nothing to me says “the holidays” like the Nutcracker!
This year I chose to decorate the front part of the house in a silver and gold theme. I just felt like glitter was very important this year! And it felt a bit more adult. When we have people over for the holidays, we usually end up sitting in here so I wanted to decor to speak more to an adult gathering. The kids have their own spaces.
I keep my dining room pretty simple. Just a centerpiece and a few holiday items strewn about. On Christmas day this table will be filled with food. My father and I spend all day cooking together. I adore cooking with my dad! These little boxes are quite popular! I know several of my favorite bloggers have them. They are such a wonderful item to add to the decor of any room. They are easy to fill and decorate and then take apart when you change your mind. I highly recommend picking some up if you find them. Mine are from Homegoods.
This beautiful stag is a new addition to the holiday decor and I am madly in love with him. He came from Boxwoods in Atlanta. It was definitely love at first sight. And I am also very much in love with these little, glittery lights. I thing I just want them all over my house all year long!
The keeping room is our main gathering space in the house. Traditional red and green is very necessary! Our decor incorporates natural elements to add to that cozy feeling. I call it the “Woodland Christmas” room. There are birds and branches and antlers all over the place.
Now let’s take it upstairs, shall we….
I allow my children to decorate their own rooms. They have their own little trees and lights and things. I help them out, but they essentially call the shots. Hence the reason that there are only a few photos….
My son chose to illuminate his baseball collection. And he has a sports themed tree tucked into the corner.
And my daughter adorned her deer heads. She also displayed her nutcracker collection. Don’t touch one, she wants them placed just so.
As for the playroom, we just added a few colorful baubles. It’s such a bright and fun space, why not keep it that way for Christmas? I’m usually a traditional white light kind of girl but when it comes to kids spaces, the bolder the better!
Would you like to join me for a little cup of cocoa? Maybe the Polar Express will be playing on TV. That is one of my favorite Christmas movies. I appreciate you all stopping by. I wish you and your family a season filled with blessings!
My helper now requires a nap.
