Happy New Year, y’all! I hope that 2015 was a blast and that you are ready to rock 2016. Did you send out 2015 with a bang? We had a quiet evening with friends and cocktails. I wanted to share with you the bubbly beverage of choice last evening. And it wasn’t champagne!
I know that champagne is usually the beverage of choice to ring in the new year, but I prefer champagne’s Italian cousin, prosecco. Prosecco is just a tad sweeter than champagne, much more affordable and still goes with everything. So, just to make it a little different I added a dash of elderflower liquer before pouring the prosecco. Then I topped it off with a sprig of rosemary just to cut into the sweet a little. The elderflower is a tad sweet and when offset by the rosemary, it feels very sophisticated. Especially when served in a champagne coupe instead of a champagne flute. I just love these little champagne coupes that my aunt gave me. They feel so “Great Gatsby”!
And if you need a little help recovering after having too much fun ringing in the new year, prosecco also goes well with orange juice. Just to take the edge off. Happy New Year!
