It’s another furniture makeover! Don’t you just love those? 2013 was the year of work spaces in our house (among other things). It seems that everyone got a new desk. Or at least a desk with a new twist. Like this one.
Remember when my husband’s office looked like this?
Thankfully, it now looks like this. But I am not one to get rid of perfectly good furniture. So, that old desk got a little makeover. It now resides in my sons room. And it looks fantastic!
The desk started out like this. It is a solid cherry desk, but the orangey color left a lot to be desired. It is a simple craftsman style desk and would truly look great anywhere. My son needed a work space in his room. All of his furniture is painted black. Lucky for me, I had some black Van Gogh chalk paint in my painting cabinet.
I taped it up and painted it. I decided to leave the inside the original cherry color, just for a little contrast.
The desk top had some grooves in it. I scraped the paint out of them to reveal the cherry underneath, again, for a little contrast. I painted the hutch that went on top of the desk as well, and also left the inside alone.
The desk turned out great! It matches his room so well. We have a baseball theme in there, can you tell? I bought a fantastic tub chair from World Market and it looks awesome with the desk and the vibe of the whole room.
