One thing I have really noticed lately whenever I go into a show home is the ceiling. It doesn’t matter which room, every room has a ceiling. And I am constantly amazed by what you can do with it. The ideas are seemingly endless. Maybe its because almost every room in my house has an ugly and outdated ceiling fan. I really don’t like ceiling fans. And I have gotten some wonderful inspiration from these rooms. Just see what I mean…..
I am totally in love with reclaimed wood these days, especially beams. I crave the day when I can call Southend Reclaimed and have them install beams in my family room. Honestly, it will be one of the happiest days of my home owning life!
And coffers. A coffered ceiling really says “elegant” to me.
Ever thought of putting wallpaper on your ceiling? It’s a great way to make it pop! And it works just as well all over the ceiling as it does as an inset. I adore it. I have plans of using some great wallpaper on a ceiling in the future.
What about just adding some detail that is fairly flat? Not something that hangs down like coffers or beams, but not as flat as wallpaper or paint. How about beaded board or planks of some sort? I LOVE this ceiling I saw in a show home a couple years ago.
Simpler and more affordable ways to transform a ceiling are by painting it in a bold or contrasting color, or adding a fantastic chandelier. Or both!
I really love the ceiling. Adding interest to it just really adds dimension to a room. You know, that WOW factor. Stay tuned for some ceiling work (affordable!) coming soon to my house.
