Picture this… It’s a lazy Sunday morning. You have friends visiting from out of town and they have to hit the road before too long. You want to send them off happily and elegantly. What do you do? You serve brunch of course! A brunch buffet is the perfect way to spend a (late) Sunday morning with friends or family. It is relatively easy to pull off so it is stress free. Everyone can enjoy and relax. Food and friends and a beautiful table setting, that’s what good times are made of.
See what I mean by easy to pull off? It’s just croissants, a parfait station, eggs and sausage. Don’t forget the coffee and mimosas! It doesn’t take long at all and it’s all self serve. For this one I served chicken sausage with kale, eggs with goat cheese and chives and mixed berry parfaits with vanilla granola. Not gonna lie, I purchased the croissants.
I have quite an eclectic mix of dishes. I have dishes from my wedding, dishes from my aunt that she gave me that are from her wedding, and some hand me down dishes from my mother in law that she got from her stepmother. Those are the ones that I’ve used here. You have probably seen the desert rose pattern before. I love it because it is girly and colorful and it reminds me of spring. But I like to mix and match my dishes. It makes for a more interesting table.
Nobody else in the family wanted these dishes. And when I say it is a full set, I mean a FULL set. I jumped at the chance to have them because they have history. I love things that have history and tell a story. Plus, my mother in law included all of the linens that match. She made them. She is a very talented seamstress and quite often makes napkins and placemats for me.
When I set up a buffet I always have the drinks at one end and the plates at the other. It is quite difficult to balance both while serving yourself food. When you set things up this way, you can just walk off to find a seat after you pour your beverage.
Now, all you have left to do is sit back and enjoy the company. Eat good food. Laugh a lot.
Have a wonderful weekend!
