I love spring cleaning! I know that it sounds crazy, but when I’m done I feel like someone has hit the reset button. The house feels clean and fresh. I wish that feeling could last forever. Typically though, once I settle in, I notice places that I forgot when I was cleaning. And they are downright dusty and dirty. So here is my list of places not to forget when spring cleaning, so that spring cleaning bliss can last, at least until the kids get home from school.
- The air vents – they collect dust just like the filters. Take them down and and wipe them off.
- The blinds – some people don’t forget them. I do. So I try to make them dust-free in spring.
- The tops of the window and door casings – if you’re short, like me, you just don’t see it. But make sure your tall friends don’t see it too!
- Behind the TV – prepare yourself when you look behind there. It could be ugly.
- Inside drawers – crumbs and dust can collect here. You just may not notice because there’s stuff in the drawers.
- Light bulbs – they get dusty too!
- The mattress covers – toss ’em in the wash. It has probably been a while.
- Kitchen appliances – did you remember to clean the oven and the dishwasher? Both usually have self cleaning settings so it’s easy. Put some water in the microwave to create steam and wipe it down.
- The Garbage Disposal – run a chopped up lemon, ice cubes and 1/4 C. of salt down the disposal. It will smell fresh and clean. Plus, the ice helps sharpen the blades.
- Outdoor areas – give them a rinse and get ready for the beautiful weather!
Now kick up your feet and enjoy your clean house! It feels so good!
