I love pasta! I could eat it every day. And nothing makes pasta better than a good sauce. I shared my easy marinara sauce with you all. Now I’d like to share the equally as easy Basil Cream Sauce.
For this sauce you will need:
2 Tbsp. salted butter
2 Tbsp. all purpose flour
2 C. heavy whipping cream
salt and pepper
1/4 C. chopped fresh basil
grated parmesan cheese
Melt the butter over medium high heat. Once it is totally melted, sprinkle in the flour and start whisking. This will make a roux. Cook for about 3 minutes to cook out that flour taste.
Lower the heat and whisk in the 2 C. of cream. The sauce will be thick. If you like it thinner, I suggest adding chicken stock to it. Keep whisking until the sauce is smooth and creamy.
Add the salt and pepper to taste.
Then add the chopped, fresh basil.
Stir it all together until fully incorporated. Let it cook together for about 2 minutes. Cooking too long will allow the sauce to get too thick and goopy.
Pour the sauce over your favorite pasta and sprinkle with grated parmesan cheese. How easy was that?!
