I have a problem. I rescue chairs. Mostly wing chairs, but any chair will do. I see them and think how amazing they would be with new upholstery or a new paint color, or both. Sometimes it pays off. Other times these chairs just sit in my garage. This particular chair is a total Cinderella story. And now it truly is a chair fit for a princess.
I saw this chair at our local Habitat for Humanity ReStore. It was nothing special. A cast-off chair with good bones but hideous clothing. No stains or tears. It wasn’t smelly. It wasn’t in disrepair. It just wasn’t attractive. But it was only $25. And I knew I had to take it home. I never leave a wing chair behind.
The perfect fabric was swirling around in my mind. It was a honeycomb pattern velvet in hot pink. And it would be perfect in my daughter’s room. I picked up 8 yards and dropped it off at the upholsterers. And this ugly chair turned into Cinderella. A princess story for the family princess to sit on.
