Once Christmas is over, the folks over at UPS and the Post Office finally get a much-deserved break. The holiday rush is over. We all expect that no more cards or packages will arrive for a while, except from the procrastinators. Well, I procrastinate on purpose. And I have come up with some sure fire ways for your holiday cards to stand out from the pack, whether you are early, late or right on time. (starting next year for you early and on time folks!)
- Make them Happy New Year cards!
I like to send cards out at odd times. One year we did Valentine’s day cards. This year we are doing Happy New Year cards! Ours came from Tiny Prints. They have an amazing selection of New Year’s cards, and so much more! We have many friends who do not celebrate Christmas or travel for the holidays. This way they will still get our greeting sent with love just a tad after the usual rush.
- Use them as thank you notes.
Is the back of your card blank? Or just has a simple design on it? Could you write on it? Use it as a super personal thank you note! What could say thank you more than a hand written note on a beautiful photo card?!
- Make the envelope as great as the card.
Use your imagination…… what if you got a card sealed with washi tape, or addressed in sparkle pen, or dotted with glitter? I’ll bet you’d want to open it right away to see the awesomeness inside. I know I would! Our embellishments match our card’s color scheme, black and gold. Check out our card design here.
- Send it with a surprise!
Since we are doing Happy New Year cards, I wanted to send some cards with a little New Year surprise. That got me thinking about parties and confetti…… ooooh, confetti! Stuff your envelope with glittery confetti so that the party starts when the envelope is opened. You can even coach your recipient by writing a little countdown on the envelope flap.
- Wrap up a treat and hand -deliver it.
Typically, my neighbors and I hand deliver our cards and holiday treats. This year we are doing New Year treats. And we are celebrating a New Year’s baby’s big 5-0! I will be using my cards as gift tags for some fantastic treats to start 2015 with a BANG!
